Art has been part of my life as long as I can remember. I went to classes with well known Adelaide artist Ruth Tuck for many years and won many prizes as a child and young adult. Recently I have taken up art more seriously enjoying portraiture with Lee Machelak at the Victorian Artists Society.
MEMBERSHIPS: In 2016 I became a member of The Victorian Artists Society where I am also an exhibiting member of the Council. Also in 2016 I became an invited member of the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Scultptors (MSWPS).
RECENT AWARDS:
2016 Highly Commended Victorian Artists Society for portraiture.
2017 Highly Commended Victorian artists Society for portraiture.
2017 Highly Commended in The Royal Melbourne Show.
Jointly awarded the Constance Wu Award for best artwork in the MSWPS annual exhibition, also for a portrait.
2018 Highly Commended in the Contemporary Art Exhibition at The Victorian Artists Society.
2018 Best in Show at the Royal Melbourne Show for 'Time off, Chef Paul Le Noury'.
2018 First Prize portraiture at the Royal Melbourne Show for 'Time off, Chef Paul Le Noury'.
2018 Second Prize portraiture for 'Next move, chess".
2018 Awarded Highly Commended for 'Beach babes' Spring Exhibition Victorian Artists Society.
I mainly use oils, painting portraits, still lifes and landscapes. I use mixed media and watercolour when sketching en plein air and travelling, which is often. I paint from life, both nude and costumed models with the Friday Group at The Victorian Artsits Society.
COLLECTIONS: My landscapes, house portraits, still lifes, portraits and other works are held in collections both in Australia and overseas including Norway, USA, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. I have illustrated two recipe books and educational texts, and recently was commissioned to complete 20 illustrations for a book of poetry now released in the UK.
