 A master of tradional tonal oil painting, bringing a wonderful painterly eye to the Australian landscape, capturing not only the distinctive geography of the places that inspire him. but their atmosphere light and character.

There is a beautiful simplicity to Ray's approach.  Working predominantly from life, he studies light and form, allowing each scene to emerge through confident gestural brushwork, a restrained tonal palette and only the details he feels are necessary.
