The Rotary Club of Altona Inc.

In 1977 The Rotary Club of Altona our club held its first Art Exhibition and Sale and this year we mark its 47th Anniversary. The Exhibition and Sale has become an important fixture for both artists and lovers of Art and open to advancement and growth to enhance our ability to showcase Rotary and Fine Art for the purpose of raising funds for projects locally, international so as to benefit all.

We have added 2 new categories with new sponsors.

This year we bring back the 1. Photographic category, and created 2. Student Year10 - Year12 Youth category, with 2 prizes specifically for Secondary Students attending a Secondary School in Hobsons Bay and undertaking design and Art in the schools.

This category is in support with our daughter Club Altona City’s initiative with the Hobsons Bay Secondary school ‘Rotary’ Poster competition.

This Rotary Club of Altona 'continues' to raise funds for our local community, our families, youth, children's health and well-being. Our Major Charities who will benefit from our fundraising efforts from the Hobsons Bay Art Show are:

  • Breakfast in Schools – The Rotary Club of Altona is a proud community partner of the Altona / Laverton Community Bank ® branch Bendigo Bank. Together we worked to develop and fund a Breakfast program in Altona Schools. This program will provide breakfast to school children, who may be experiencing difficulties at home and disengagement through hunger and privileged basic health needs. This program makes a difference in the local community by giving our local school students not only a healthy breakfast but a safe place to talk. This is turn has proved to assist educational outcomes and family assistance and connectedness.
  • Emergency Relief - Support to local community orgs assisting families without discrimination with food, pantry items and connection with Emergency Resource Networks.
  • Cancer Wellness Centre - Rotary Altona supporting the RoCan initiative to establish a Centre of retreat and care.
  • Latitudes - assisting our disadvantaged youth to gain a strong connection with their community, provide mentoring, life skills, health and well-being.
  • Veteran Support - financial assistance to a range of programs, celebration goods.
